The Good Parts Polishes By Literary Lacquers

So these three polishes are from Literary Lacquers. She just released a collection based on erotic fiction. While I'm not big on erotica or, well... reading in general, I AM indeed a big fan of these polishes and their talented maker.Watch yourself, this post is very pic heavy.

First up is My Secret Garden. Here's what Amy, the artisan responsible for Literary Lacquers, has to say about the polish:

"Glitter topcoat of multicolored matte glitters with a hefty dose of sparkle. This polish is inspired by My Secret Garden by Nancy Friday, published in 1973. This groundbreaking feminist book collected the sexual fantasies of women in a time when women were considered not to do such things. This book, as well as being fabulously sexy, is worth a read just to really understand where women were sexually in the culture as the sexual revolution was changing everything."

This dazzling little cutie is choc full of lavender, goldenrod, cobalt, pink, and grass matte glitters with a touch or sparkle. Here I have it over pastel skittles. The pastels are, as per my usual, by Lime Crime. Sidenote: I cannot freaking get enough of the Lime Crime pastels. They are my go-to polish. They're some of the only polishes that I can wear without glitter on top. Heehee they're that nice!!

And perfect for the fast-approaching Easter!

Well here it is: My Secret Garden.

Then I had a crazy idea... LETS MATTIFY THIS.

So nice. I needta start matting everything.

Next is More Like Fire Than Light. 

"Orange linear holographic - I get full coverage in 2 coats, this is brighter on the nail than in the bottle. This polish is inspired by Delta of Venus by Anais Nin, written in the 1940's and published after the author's death in 1977. The short stories in this collection were commissioned by a mysterious man known only as "The Collector" "

This polish is a lovely hologrpahic polish. As good as a Jade, but maybe even better because you're supporting a made-in-the-USA small business. On the nail this was a little too "autumn" for the beautiful sunshine I have going on right now. Here it is:

 And so I threw some bright yellow under there to cheer it up a bit. Yellow base under middle and pinky. 3 coats on the bare nails, 2 coats over yellow.

Did you guys miss my outdoor sunshine pics? Because I REALLY REALLY did.

One last one! And it's really pretty. It's called Woman of Pleasure.

"Periwinkle crelly with navy, lavender, matte pink glitters and magenta circle glitter. I get full converage in two coats. This polish was inspired by Fanny Hill: Memoirs of a Woman of Pleasure written by Jon Cleland in 1748 (!!) when it was promptly banned for over 200 years."

This is my first crelly glitter. I haven't really been too excited about this type of polishin the past but hey, throw some circle glitter in and I'm down! Here it is, shown by itself and over Lime Crime's Once in a Blue Mousse. Middle and ring fingers have the Lime Crime base and 2 coats of WOP, the others have 3 coats of WOP.

Brilliant!

Bottom line, these polishes are great. I love them. Go buy them!

Glitzology's My Viking Boyfriend

Hey guys. I'm here! And I bring with me a very sparkly very pretty polish. When Glitzology first sent me this batch of polishes, they were beautiful. However upon inspection, the consistency was a bit "off". Thick and gloopy, impossible to apply. I sent Glitzology a note on Etsy asking what was up and apparently she got her hands on a batch of a bad base. So she super-kindly sent me a second set. While they are still pretty thick, they are workable. The thickness here comes from the density of glitter, however, not the base being faulty. This is not a glitter topcoat, this is a standalone polish in my opinion as Three coats for full coverage, 3 coats of Seche Vite for a glassy finish and because I got carried away. Here it is! Lime Crime's Once In A Blue Mousse

So sorry for not posting much lately. Winter-like temperatures and manual labor at work are seriously ravishing my nails and cuticles. I break or tear at least one nail a day. That's kinda inconvenient when my blog revolves around taking pics of my hands. I've also been in a bit of an emotional dip, and I haven't felt like doing much. Plus the stress of having to do reviews makes it so i want to do them even less. I know that doesn't make sense logically, but if I'm supposed to something, I'm less likely to do it. I don't know why. I'm really stubborn, or some shit. But they will all get done eventually, even if it takes me 100 years. I have my blogger polishes lined up in order or my receiving them, so I will complete the reviews in the same order. I have contacted as many makers as I could to let the know the situation, and they were all very sweet and understanding. I'm not trying to make excuses, I'm just letting you all know that I've clearly slowed down my reviewing habits. And it really doesn't help that the sun doesn't come out anymore. So outdoor photos just look hum-drum. I built my lightbox and even found lamps that work for it. But of course it turns my photos all yellow now. Ugh. So while I work out my issues, there are sure to be some not-so-exquisite photographs. But hopefully you all can look past my ugly cuticles, my infrequent posting, and my terrible lighting and just appreciate the polish for what it is. Thanks in advance for your understanding! Without further ado, here is today's review.

It's Once In A Blue Mousse by Lime Crime. A perfect Tiffany blue with an amazing, nearly one-coat formula. Lime Crime is really acing the pastels here. I'd go as far as to say topcoat isn't needed for gloss, but I did use Seche Vite in these pics because I'm terribly impatient. Dry time on the polish was great but I'm far too lazy to wait even for that. Here are the pics!

The perfect pretty blue. Thoughts?

 The oh-so pretty shade and flawless, fast drying formula makes this polish a no-brainer A.

Rainbow Polish's Great Blue

Chunky glitter, you guys! The chunkiest! Rainbow Polish's Great Blue is made up of shades of blue, black, and silver holo.You've got hexes, stars, bars, and diamonds. The big hexes look like fish scales! My base is
Nicole by OPI's Respect The World, which was my first "high end" polish (aka cost more than a buck or two). It was like eight bucks, which was a lot, but I couldn't say no. This polish is about 5 years old. Great Blue's formula is fine, you will need to fish around a bit for the good stuff in there. ("Fish" around... Haha. Like fish scales. Moving on....) There's a bit of shrinkage going on in these pics, so ignore that. What do you think, could you see yourself embracing this loud glitter?

Darling Diva Polish's Rainbow Bridge

This polish has been my nemesis. I've done probably six mani's with it and haven't gotten around to photographing any of them before work destroys them. I've tried it over many colors, though so I guess that's a good thing. I really like this polish over baby pink as a valentines day mani, so consider that. Formula was fine and dandy, dry time was a little longer than I'd like, but that's fine. Bar glitters never have liked me, and the ones in this polish were no different. If you don't seal them down quickly with a good thick topcoat, they may get bent and stick up and be generally annoying. I guess you just gotta know how to deal with them, and I really just DON'T. Also topcoat will help prevent the hearts from falling off. With 2 difficult glitter types in ones polish, you're probably going to need a bit of patience with this one.
Well here it is. Pics are at dusk so that work the next day wouldn't kill them before I was able to take a pic!

Lyn B Designs' Stuart

Here's "Stuart". Hate the name, love the polish. It's made of different sizes of matte blue squares, and matte blue bars. There are also some subtle warm-toned iridescent flecks floating about which I really enjoy. I'm not a fan (at all) of bar glitter but this stuff gave me no flack. The glitter in the polish is so brilliantly cobalt, it's hard not to like. I'm not even a blue-lover but this polish is my new best friend. Application was easy, no pushing glitter around, and minimal fishing for the big chunks. Dry time was typical. Not too long but not instant. I had a bit of trouble opening the bottle due to the slender neck but it wasn't too bad. Let me know what you think of Stuart!

Battle of the Mint To Be's

Check this out! Just realized I have 2 polishes named "Mint To Be"! How cool! :) Similar, but different enough to have both.

When I got the first one, I immediately thought of this awesome lipstick by Lime Crime:

Mint is a very popular color this summer, and I have a feeling it might stick around for a while. It's nice and light and pretty. So on the the comparison!

MTB by SN5 is glitter packed and will need a few coats of top coat to be glossy. You'll only need 2 coats for full opacity. This is a very easy polish to apply and wear. :)

And here is Mint To Be by Seventh Day Soap Co.

MTB by SDSC is sheer, this is 4 coats total. No topcoat is needed but its shown here with one. Application was perfect, love the bits of holo glitter in there, they really make this polish something special. :)

MTB by SDSC is sheerer, bluer, and it's got holo glitter in it, while MTB by SN5 is greener, more opaque and creamy, and it has silver glitter in it. Compare!
