Lucky 13's Zero

Here's the second in a series of 4 polishes from Lucky 13 Lacquer. The collection is inspired by The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Today's polish "Zero" is inspired by Jack's ghost dog, Zero. Described by Lucky 13: "Ultra-fine white hex, small white square, and medium red square glitters. Inspired by Jack's faithful companion, Zero," .

And yep, this beautiful polish really does look like zero. Formula is beautiful. Easy to apply, and the outcome is stunning. This would also be a great polish around Christmas, maybe over a dark green. :) Here it is you guys!

2 coats, 2 coats.

Lucky 13's Bone Daddy

Here's the first in a series of 4 polishes from Lucky 13 Lacquer. The collection is inspired by The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Today's polish is Bone Daddy, which is described as follows: "Ultra-fine white hex, small white squares, medium black hex, and small black square glitters, like Jack's characteristic suit,". It really does look just like Jack. Formula was perfect. Very very easy, instant nail art. Topcoat if you want a glassy finish, but I left it without to give it a cool textured feel.

To keep with the Halloween theme, I put this over an orange. This is over Sun Worshiper by China Glaze. A little bright for this mani but it's definitely Halloween. Ignore the ugly Cheeto-ish smudge up my finger. That kinds stuff isn't visible until it gets under the natural lighting. And I wasn't about to go back inside to fix it. Haha. Well here it is!

Lucky 13's Nightmare Collection.

I was lucky enough for Kyoti Jess of Kyoti's Nails and Lucky 13 Lacquer to take a liking to me! That resulted in me being of the first to be able to review her awesome new Nightmare collection of polishes. Here is what she says about them:

"Inspired by Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas, this 4-piece collection is perfect for Halloween and all year 'round. All polishes have clear bases and can be layered over any color."

The polishes are:
Ragdoll.
Bone Daddy.
Pumpkin King.
and
Zero.

The polishes look just like you've painted that character on your nails. Awesome if you're a lacquer lover, even awesome-r if you have a creepy goth side and love The Nightmare Before Christmas! :) (like me)

So thus starts the series of posts I will bring to you about these polishes. You can buy them here.

Pa-pa-paparazzi nails

Today we have the last in a series of 4 nail polishes from Custom Nail Art, Paparazzi. It's made up of small purple holo hexes, and small gold holo bar glitters. Holo + holo? I'm in. I've tried this over nude, pastel green, and now Orly's Space Cadet, a pink/green duochrome. It matches Space Cadet best, but I liked how it combined with the pastel green. Application was dreamy, this is 2 coats for good measure but would have been great with just 1. The photos show the mani after a few days, so there is some tip wear but oh well. There is also some neon orange leftover that I didnt notice until reviewing the pics. Oops! Ignore it. It's for next week's surprise. :) Here it is yall.

Custom Nail Art's Blue Diamonds

Today's indie post is about Custom Nail Art's Blue Diamonds. It is describes as a "milky-white glittery base packed full of miniature blue diamonds". The milkiness is attributed to tiny grey-blue shimmer that flashes cobalt for a split second here-and-there in the right light, but you've really gotta look for it. I've tried this polish of a number of colors now and let me tell you, it looks really cute over pink. I'll probably wear this color over a base of light blue for my friend's upcoming baby shower. She's having a boy! How cute. Average application. Nothing notable to add other than it being cute! Do you like it?

 The lineup.

Celebrity Guest Beyonce: Custom Nail Art's Dusky Rose

Today I have another Indie for you. It's Custom Nail Art's Dusky Rose. It's a grey/silver shimmer, small purple and purple holo glitters, and of course those big black hexes. I've tried this on many different backgrounds now, a rosey chrome, a sky blue, grey, and now white. Sky blue was my favorite but it chipped before I could photograph it. Poo! Formula is great, if not a bit rough. Be sure to use a thick topcoat! Here it is over white! Enjoy!

 The lineup!!!

There's Beyonce in the back! It's my chicken. :)
I named her Beyonce because she is golden and beautiful, just like her namesake.

Guest Post: Apple Blossom Nails!

Hey lacqueristas! I'm Britta Rose and I'm new to the nail blogging world but I've been a longtime lurker of this blog and many others. The lovely lady behind Apple Lacquer has been kind enough to let me do a guest post for her wonderful blog! She gave me the challenge of doing a manicure inspired by her page background/theme so I thought I'd try to twist the whole apple blossom theme into a cute floral pattern. Hope y'all enjoy!

The base reddish/purple coat is Wet n Wild Ruby Rush, the pink blossoms are Wet n Wild Tickled Pink, the white is Spoiled Correction tape and the yellow is Spoiled Designated Driver. These can all be bought for around $3 each at drug stores!

I think that's it! Thanks for letting me do this!! It was a lot of fun :)

How cool is that, yall? Would you like to see more guest posts? I sure liked it.. little to no work involved for me! Haha! We will probably be having more of these! And look how nice it is! Thanks Britta Rose!

Glam Toes!

You guys, look at my glam toes! Did these last night which is why lighting is off and I'm not outside, but I figured I'd share them anyways. The holographic glitter topcoat is really fine and sparse, so this is 6 or 7 coats of it over 1 coat of black. :) Yes I realize I have stubby toes.

The Liebster Award

This morning I had a fun surprise to wake up to. I have been lucky enough to be nominated for the Liebster Award.... Three times! Kyoti's Nails, I Feel Polished, and Crazy Nail Lady all nominated me.  Here's a bit about the award:

"This little award is all about discovering new blogs and helping those with less than 200 followers to get recognized."

Here are the rules:

1. Each person tagged must post 11 things about themselves.

2. They must also answer the 11 questions the 'tagger' has set for them.

3. They must create 11 more questions to ask bloggers they have decided to tag.

4. They must then choose 11 bloggers with less than 200 followers and tag them in their post.

5. These lucky bloggers must then be told.

6. There's no tag backs.

11 Things About Me:

1. I work at Rite Aid
2. I have 2 cats and 2 dogs
3. I love tacky fashion
4. I tried to dye my hair lavender once
5. I bought a bracelet from some boy scouts yesterday
6. I am fairly flexible
7. When I move away from  my hometown, it will probably be to northern Oregon.
8. I love the internet
9. I have misophonia. Pretty much that means that I cannot tolerate eating noises. I rage.
10. I get super grumpy in warm weather
11. I hate all sports, they are boring

Now it's time to answer questions. Since 3 different people wrote questions for me, I'll answer my favorite 11 of the 33 given.

1. Where is one place you would go if money weren't an object?
London. :) I wanna see cool things and hear cool accents.

2. How did you choose the name of your blog?
Apple Lacquer. When thinking of a name, I looked around for inspiration, and saw an apple on the kitchen table. My plan was to hold an apple for each of  my pics. So far I haven't done that once. :)

3. If you could design your own polish line what would it be called and what would be the first collection you would create?
Probably would be called Apple Lacquer, and my first collection would probably be inspired by fashion/my closet.

4. What is your go to color?
Lilac/lavender. Every time.

5. Do you own any indie polishes? If so, what kind? If not, what is the first one you would buy?
Yes. So many probably around 55. All different kinds but mostly glitter topcoats.

6. What is your dream polish (an actual one or one you've dreamt up)?
A slightly black tinted clear base with lavender holo and gunmetal holo glitters in chunky sizes, every shape except bar. (including butterflies, stars, etc)

7. What was your biggest polish fail?
 Need I say more?

8. How big is your collection? (pics please!)
Around 200? Maybe 220? IDK.

This was like 50 polishes ago.

9. What movie or show could you re-watch every week/month for the rest of your life?
Gentlemen Broncos. It's by the makers of Napoleon Dynamite, except its plot is based around a teenage sci-fi novel writer. So funny!!!

10. As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A DJ. Lol!

11. What was your first pet?
My black lab Emma. I love her still to this day, though she's passed a few years ago. Best dog ever. We could wrestle and she'd show me her big shiny white teeth and growl while still wagging her tail. Then we could hug and she would know rough-housing time was over. I hand-made her a lace collar and sewed pearls on individually. We slept side by side every night on my bed. I love my baby Emma.

My questions for my tagged 11 :)

1. How did you get started with blogging?

2. What is the landscape like where you live?

3. What is your favorite type of pants?

4. What are your pet's names?

5. What do is your dream job?

6. What is your absolute least favorite polish?

7. What is your dream date?

8. What is your least favorite TV show?

9. What was your biggest nail polish fail?

10. What was your first boyfriend or girlfriend like?
11. What's your favorite color for toe nail polish?

And finally, my 11 tagged bloggers (If you've already been tagged, forgive me!):

Enkelini Wrap-up!

So the last few days I've been wearing and swatching Enkelini polishes. Let me tell you, I have not had a single issue. All 3 apply flawlessly and beautifully. I've gotten compliments on all 3 from customers at work. I will be getting full-size bottles of Doynk and Gettin' Jiggy.... they're just too cool not to. How terrible would it be if I ran out? Very. Very terrible. Alright well here they are!

What do you think of them? Which is your favorite? Will you be buying one of these or another from Enkelini? Let me know in the comments!
